Eliana Heredia Statement Ever since my first approach to plastic arts I have been trying to conquer space in my artwork. My original intention was to demonstrate the relation between the human being and pure nature. In an attempt to evoke an aesthetic impression for the observer I created installations by resemantization of material from everyday life and took them on a journey through timeless and psychological landscapes. In order to produce such views, I used everyday commodities that reacted in combination or when influenced by water, air or change of temperature. These materials showed alteration and agitation because of their immanent psycho-chemical character. These included materials and objects such as mattresses, psychotherapeutic drug packages, steel wool, detergent, conditioner, nylon bags, plastic cups, parchment paper, glass and cement, whose colour and quality (I) changed through erosion and material stress. Desde mi temprano acercamiento a las artes plásticas, mis producciones han comprometido el espacio y han tenido como objetivo fundamental, articular la relación del hombre y la Naturaleza. Para ello construyo instalaciones con elementos doméstico que recrean paisajes subterráneos. Para producir dichas vistas elijo materiales que se deterioran con el uso, el agua, el aire o la temperatura y que por su constitución físico-química condensan el movimiento y la transformación. En Componentes como: colchones, blíster de psicofármacos, viruta de acero, detergentes, suavizantes de ropa, bolsas de nailon, vasos de plástico, papel para hornear, vidrio y cemento, altero el color del material investigando sus niveles de erosión, docilidad y resistencia. Seit meiner ersten Annäherung an die plastischen Künste habe ich versucht mit meinen Arbeiten Räume zu erobern. Dabei bestand mein eigentliches Ziel darin auf diesem Wege, das Verhältnis zwischen dem Menschen und der Natur zur Darstellung zu bringen. Dafür schuf ich Installationen, die versuchten durch die Resemantisierung von Materialien aus dem Alltag beim Betrachter ästhetische Erfahrungen zu evozieren, die es ihm ermöglichen, zeitlose und psychologische Landschaften zu durchwandern. Um diese Ansichten zu produzieren, benutzte ich alltägliche Gebrauchsgegenstände, die sich durch den Gebrauch oder die Einwirkung von Wasser, Luft und Temperaturwechsel veränderten. So demonstrierten besagte Materialen aufgrund ihrer physio-chemischen Beschaffenheit Bewegung und Veränderung. Es handelte sich dabei um Materialien und Gegenstände wie zum Beispiel Matratzen, Psychopharmakaverpackungen, Stahlwolle, Waschmitteln, Weichspüler, Nylon-Beutel, Plastikbecher, Backpapier, Glas und Zement, deren Farbe und Eigenschaftlichkeit (s)ich durch Erosion und Materialverschleiß veränderte.
